(pre-recorded post)
I have been playing in the paints and gesso feeling free
thats how I view art journaling. I don't care if it is messy, I don't care if its not the next trend of what everyone else is doing, because art journaling is a form of expression and ways to get my feelings out on paper and say exactly what I want to say. I can keep the words exposed if I want or I can hide it with some paint a technique called "ghost writing". I love altering the covers the most though.
So many ladies inspired me on youtube for a little over a year now from the beginning (Suzi Blu, Journal Artista, Teesha Moore, Millande, artandsoul2, creativewifee08, willowing and more). Lucy Edson is also amazing as well. I finally decided to dive into the products that I had been buying and hoarding.
I wanted to have everything I needed when I started and what is crazy is you can never have everything you need because any household item, papers, punch outs from games and all that can be used in art journaling. I have a guest post coming up soon about it so I prally should not say to much as I will just be repeating myself LOL.
I thought about taking a few art journaling classes but then I figured you tube has so many different varieties of tutorials out there with so many styles why spend the money, but sometimes there is that extra you might learn, but then again some things comes easy for me and I feel like it might be a waste of funds. However there is always something you can learn to help "stretch" the imagination and or what may come easy. So I will continue to follow those that offer free courses for now until I feel I am ready to spend money on something where the resources are on 100's of free web pages.
I wanted to share with you some things that I put in my journal some of my pages are the same and some are different. I like having albums like the smaller one I created (which I will do a video flip of soon) where the pages are all different, no true theme just open it up and put it what you feel you know.
here is a line from the page above (I use to love yellow):
"she was so small, not really developed and had no idea what it was like to experience friends, sleepovers and parties. She was such the "it" girl in her head and at such a young age was the outkast. It started in the bathroom. I had to pee and there was no knock on the door just that man. I said I was sorry I did not mean to leave the door unlocked on purpose"
So art journaling for me is not always about the blue skys and red pumps I just purchased at DSW.com although one day it might be .. just right now I am crying, mad and happy all in the same time but when it is done whether I have a few splatters or a page full of words the thoughts and feelings are real and I go back to picking up where I left off before I got lost in transit ..
I am taking part in Art Journal Daily with Julie Balzer. Love her style, techniques just her period she keeps me inspired and going ..
Before I go I want to leave you with this blog, I love it SO MUCH but it was THIS POST that really made me think of myself back in the day and so many others out there that would NEVER admit it .. Hump Day.
